Michael Jackson souvenir tickets

How do we feel about this?

Is it incredibly cynical or fair game?

Would you want a Michael Jackson souvenir ticket or do you think that it's better to get the money back and buy, I dunno, a few DVDs?

I would rather have my money back or a voucher to another concert by a musical Icon that changed music and dance the way we know it .

Wait,

there isn’t another like that, so I suppose I will just have to take the money and run then.

I think its a very clever AEG PR Stunt to say to fans 'keep your ticket as a souvenir of the concert that never happened.' AEG have lost £300 million and if I were them I would do all I could to try and deter refunds.

Honestly though, will those tickets ever become a collectors item?

I would opt for a refund.

This is not a PR stunt as it was first reported it’s just AEG trying to claw back as much lost income as possible.

They are offering limited edition tickets printed with 3D moving images. See full up to date story here with newly released rehearsal photos.

AEG are appealing to hard core fans better nature and clawing back their money. These tickets will have been printed and to be honest they should still send them to fans, what use are they of to AEG now?

Frankly it is my opinion that any fool who for one minute thought that a man so frail and so mentally unwell could perform even ONE whole set on one given date at any venue in the world let alone the "worlds number one entertainment venue" deserves to loose their money.

This icon of music has been unable to perform or function with any form of normality or anything that even bears a resemblance to the moments that made him so important to music and the influence he has had on peoples lives.

I have said all along that this could be the biggest faux pas in music because I was convinced that it could never ever happen and if it did would it be what we wanted it to be?

I saw him perform at Milton Keynes bowl and it was a true performance spectacle that I feel was a key moment in my passion for live music, so i know what i would have expected, buy i knew that this was never going to happen and i think that money and the publics ever increasing voyeuristic nature perhaps and a love of things that represent a 'car crash' and our love of seeing people fall from grace has overtaken human compassion.

This man was ill in so many ways and any fool could see that, yet they still rushed to buy the tickets and camped out and strived to be seen to be fans and have his best interests at heart... well he has gone now so as a broken hearted "fan" will getting your money make you feel better?

I don't care for the lost millions (what is insurance for?) I don't care for the supposed upset of the fans who have cued and paid for the experience and are now seeking compensation... in my opinion, you all knew the risks and you could all see how ill he was, so i suggest you just live with it and wait for the next big comeback.

Personally i cant wait to see is going to fill the available dates.

By the way, Off the Wall is the greatest Album  of all time and not OK Computer... in my opinion!

David Quainton July 2, 2009

We value everyone's opinion here in the Event forums, but OK Computer is by far the best album ever made!!! ;-)

Andrew Williams July 3, 2009

Let's all just calm down here - in the cold light of day Definitely Maybe trumps both Off the Wall and OK Computer, but that's by the by...

Surely the video of the rehearsals indicates he wasn't completely on his last legs? www.guardian.co.uk/.../michael-jackson-rehearsal-video-footage

Andrew,

Im afraid that Definitely Maybe comes nowhere close to the first Stone Roses album. In terms of innovation, musical influence, musical prowess and sheer talent, no one can touch this album.

The fact that Oasis, Primal Scream, Kasabian and so many other bands in the musical world since have clearly been influenced by them says it all.

IAN IRVING July 3, 2009

And i thought only David would bite on that one!
